ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Meet Tyra
I’m loyal, grounded in my faith, and intentional about how I move. I lead with kindness, but I’m not naive about people or situations. I’m cautious, but I don’t hesitate when it’s time to act.
I’m disciplined, thoughtful, and opinionated, but fair. I don’t do anything halfway, if I’m called to do something, I’m going to do it right.
Family, spirituality, and love anchor me. My faith steadies me, and my laughter keeps me human when life gets complicated.
I believe in finishing what I start, protecting my peace, and moving with integrity, purpose, and heart.

Marilyn Cross = Love
Marilyn Cross isn’t just a name, it’s a pen name I chose with intention. She represents my testimony, a blend of the sacred and the human, the broken and the brave. Through her, I give voice to every woman who has carried love, loss, and legacy all at once and still found the strength to rise.
To that end, Marilyn Cross has inspired me to give back to the community in tangible ways. This includes creating space to promote and highlight nurses and other professionals, as well as supporting organizations that provide resources to women facing domestic violence and other life challenges.
All charitable giving is facilitated through a dedicated donation page on my website. One hundred percent of funds given through that page are directed toward supporting women in need, with contributions distributed to organizations such as House of Ruth Maryland, CHILD, Inc., and YWCA Delaware.
Marilyn Cross is first introduced in Tyra Bedford’s powerful debut, She Doesn’t Look Like What She’s Been Through, The Making of Marilyn Cross.
This is not just a story of survival; it’s a story of what it takes to rebuild when life has tested every part of you. Each page pulls you deeper into a journey marked by pressure, resilience, and the kind of strength most people never see.
If you’ve ever had to carry more than you should have and still show up like everything was fine, you’ll recognize pieces of yourself in her.
